Friends in High Places

This past weekend we had an impromptu  getaway to Cherokee, NC with friends for some "Native American" studies. Both dads are in the military and were unavailable, so it was just the moms and kids.

We stayed at a cabin overlooking the quiet town of Whittier, NC. The view was spectacular, but the driveway was a little scary. Although it rained much of the weekend we still were able to visit the Oconaluftee Indian Village, the Cherokee Museum and the Art Museum. Other highlights of the weekend included panning for gems, fishing for trout, and an extremely close game of Trivial Pursuit. I believe that it was my reluctance to watch or read anything Harry Potter that cost me the game. What in the world is a Hogwort?

I think the kids had a blast and built stronger friendships just like the moms. I know that anyone who will stay up to talk theology with me until 2:30 am must be a friend for life.
